2021 Toyota Corolla Apex: Motorsport DNA
September 29 2020,
Toyota is set to win the 2021 model year with a host of exciting updates to its storied vehicle lineups. One change that has the automotive community talking is the 2021 Corolla Apex. Engineers took the Corolla SE platform and injected it with unique agility, a responsive drivetrain, and edgy styling. Planned for a limited production run of 150 units, each model will be something to admire and remember.
The 2021 Toyota Corolla Apex features Dynamic Shifting
The engine of the Corolla Apex is a 2.0L Dynamic Force Engine that outputs 169 horsepower. It develops 151 lb-ft of torque and sends it to one of two available transmissions. To be included in 100 of these models, a Dynamic Shift CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a simulated 10-speed Sequential Shift pattern, paddle shifters, and a Sport Mode. Fuel consumption is estimated to be at 7.6/5.8 L/100 km (city/highway), which is an added bonus considering the performances.
The other 50 models receive a 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (6 iMT). It includes downshift rev-matching, controls engine speed on upshifts, and helps rollbacks on hill starts. The better performance also contributes to efficiency. Models with a 6 iMT are estimated to achieve a consumption rating of 8.2/6.5 L/100 km.
Agile is the 2021 Toyota Corolla Apex
At the foundation of the Apex is a unique chassis. Toyota stripped down the SE's chassis and built it back up with sport-tuned equipment that covers all the details. Special shocks and rebound springs increase damping forces, and coil springs feature a faster spring rate that decreases roll angles and flattens steering and cornering. If that's not enough, stabilizer bars contribute to agility by decreasing roll angles.
Although the drivetrain is set up for a lot of attention, the exterior will make heads turn as you drive by. Edgy styling coloured with black and bronze makes its own statement. The exhaust is designed specifically for the Apex, and you won't find it anywhere else.
Once inside, you will find an interior that reflects the sporty focus of the exterior. It also features technology, entertainment capability, and safety available in premium-level Toyota models.
When equipped with the CVT, the Apex has an MSRP of $27,300. Models with the 6-iMT start at $28,300.
