November 04 2021,
Toyota announced more details last week on its new bZ4X electric vehicle and the bZ lineup which represents upcoming electric models at Toyota.
In particular, we learned that Toyota plans to produce seven electric bZ vehicles by 2025, all built on the new e-TNGA platform dedicated to electric vehicles. As for the Toyota bZ4X, the Japanese specifications unveiled earlier give us a good idea of what's to come.
A 71.4-kWh battery for the Toyota bZ4X
The Toyota bZ4X will be equipped with a 71.4 kWh battery which should allow it to offer nearly 500 kilometers of range. It will be possible to recharge the battery on a 150-kW ultra-fast charger which will reach 80% charge in just 30 minutes. In addition, a solar panel on the roof will allow you to maintain maximum range when driving.
Two versions will be offered, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The four-wheel-drive version will produce 214 horsepower and will be able to reach 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds.
In terms of technology, the Toyota bZ4X will be equipped with all Toyota Safety Sense technologies while an OTA update system will ensure up-to-date infotainment system functionality and the most recent features. The Toyota bZ4X will also feature a "Yoke" style steering wheel like Tesla, but it is not yet known whether this steering wheel will come on the production model.
In short, there are still a few details to unveil about Toyota's new 100% electric vehicle, but what has been announced so far is very, very promising!
