The Toyota Tundra Tackles 2023

The Toyota Tundra has always been a fighter. When trucks were going bigger but with smaller engines, fancier cockpits and air-ride suspension, the Tundra stayed true to its V8, leaf spring rear end and workmanlike interior. It was a truck that got the job done.
Which, for 2023, it still is but now, they’ve added a bunch of that “newfangled” stuff, modernized the interior with massive infotainment displays and digital rear-view mirrors and moved to a solid rear axle with coil springs and optional air suspension, for a smoother ride.
And while they have downsized the engine, that’s not to say it’s down on power; two powertrains are available, both of which are centered around a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6: a gas-only version that comes with either 348 or 437 horsepower, and 405 lb-ft or 470 pound-feet of torque, as will as a hybrid i-FORCE MAX model that makes 437 hp and 583 lb-ft, with all powertrains being offered only with a 10-speed automatic transmission. That’s a lot of power and it helps the hybrid model tow up to 5,067 kilograms, or about 12,000 pounds.
Inside for 2023, we find the standard fitment of Toyota Interface multimedia which comes equipped with either an eight- or 14-inch display as well as with "Hey, Toyota” voice command tech that has the car help you find the nearest gas station or taking you home just by asking it to. It also gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are a massive 21 trims in total to choose from, with gas-powered models available with either 4 x 4 or 4 x 2 powertrains, with a 5.5-, 6.5- or 8.1-foot bed, as well as Double Cab or Crew Cab configurations.
I-FORCE MAX hybrid trucks, meanwhile, come with either a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed and Crewmax cab. The hybrid id also the only way to go if you want the TRD Pro off-road special that comes equipped with special Fox internal bypass coil-overs, TRD skid plate, Toyota heritage grille, front stabilizer bar and more. The top-spec Capstone model also comes hybrid-only, and adds semi-Aniline leather, power running boards and 22” alloy wheels.
